The ideal, correct value for cd/m^2 is the one that produces a desired visual match. Which nothing to do with the print issues* based on one person's viewing of a web page of images on (who knows how) a display is calibrated. Get what you need to calibrate your monitor, and calibrate it at about 100 cd/m2 bright. Even the shorter 7 minute (not three or four minute) video speaks of display calibration 43 seconds in (in very broad stokes). I've been taking and processing photos for 3 years now and if my screen is so way out with what the files really looks like then without reprocessing I would not be able to print. I've had a bad experience of receiving poor prints! They look brilliant on my internally calibrated retina screen but came out dull with huge colour differences. As the title suggests, should this be necessary or virtually compulsory if I want to print my photos.
